About

Mission:

Our mission is to provide a great gaming experience. We do this with teamwork in a mature, friendly, fair and stable atmosphere. Our servers are top quality, high-end machines with 10Gb/s bandwidth for no lag. PBBans is always used to reduce cheating. We also have some of the best server admins you’ll ever see that investigate reports and profiles to find and ban cheaters. We play competitively through the Team Warfare League and accept scrimmage requests with other clans that enjoy hardcore as much as we do.

Past:

*Flaw started off as a gaming community focused on the popular online PC game Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. After several years, the members began to freelance and split apart. Many members had left becoming inactive while a few remained. Please refer to our history below for a more in-depth overview.

Present:

*Flaw is now running two Battlefield 3 servers, specifically Hardcore Rush and Hardcore Conquest Large with PBBans support. We have approximately 25 active members. *Flaw is becoming competitive in the Team Warfare League. Donations are being accepted to help cover the costs. A strong focus on structure, events, skills and dedication from the members will become more apparent as we adapt ourselves to the changes in our gaming community based on user interest and membership activity. In order to maintain quality members, votes by the voters will be held every 3 months to determine who keeps membership. Other clans may register here and challenge our League members in friendly competitions. The challengers will be granted a special rank of Clan Friend if they regularly attend these events in addition be grated additional forum privileges. All events will be planned between the League members and Clan Friends. They will make the necessary arrangements and post scheduled events. League members and Clan Friends signed up will be required to attend. Ribbons will be given out throughout the year to those worthy enough to earn them and by the end of the year the Premium Ribbons will be awarded to those that have gone above and beyond anyone else.

Future:

We intend to grow to over 50 active members by the end of 2012 on our forums and platoon with regular competitions being held by the League members against Clan Friends. *Flaw will continue to progress with the latest and greatest games for everyone to be a part of.

History:

*Flaw first started in May, 2005 by RanD and myself, Knives* (formerly known as DarkGod). The name itself was RanD’s idea. Having used phpBB forums since I joined my first clan back in March 18, 2003, I was eager with the idea and built it with a handful of old online acquaintances, whom have mostly moved on. Our reputation of what is known as “laming” started in a game called Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, or JK2 for short. It spread across all game servers and people began to hate us for it since laming is defined to them as attacking those in game who are not prepared. As ridiculous as that sounds, it resulted in many *Flaw being banned from the majority of popular JK2 servers. We played with the objection of gaming in mind without following any odd rules. While the rest wanted structure and order, we wanted chaos and entertainment. My intent on the foundation of *Flaw has been preserved to this day and that is to allow complete and total freedom to all the members within all reasonable limits. We all promote equality, fairness, gameplay fun with no judgment and as few rules as possible. People associated *Flaw members as lamers, trouble-makers, rule-breakers, server-crashers and (believe it or not) hackers. We were the scum of JK2 that brought virtual terror to all those wanting to chill out in game servers doing their supervising admin duties, MSN chit-chats, snitching and scouting jobs. Some clans went as far as creating a ban-on-site rule against *Flaw members while others formed what is known as “anti-flaw” activist groups who protested against what we did. Our reputation was never good but that was fine in our books. To us, online gaming is supposed to be fun. It isn’t about policing servers, telling others how to play and defining what is right and wrong. These honor codes, rules and procedures just don’t matter. They never have and they never will. Fun is the name of the game. With all of the admins fanatics running around trying to control everyone and everything, they forgot what the true heart and soul-purpose of online gaming was really about in this dying game. It was a challenge for us to explain this to them, but always interesting and entertaining. Some clans changed their views to be more lenient of this so-called “laming” behavior. To be fair, laming isn’t even the proper term for what we did. It is more likely to be called “cheap shots”. To be successful in changing people’s points of views, it was not done by online bullying. It is done with patience, maturity and understanding in most cases. We want to have a good time just like everyone else when we gamed, not get into a political debate. Just because we pissed people off doesn’t mean we aren’t rational or considerate. Who we are online is not who we are in real life. We know exactly what we were doing. The problem was some people had a hard time adapting to change, letting go of their egos and getting deprogrammed so to speak. But you can’t make an omelet without breaking some eggs. Our time in JK2 was grand but everything must come to an end at some point. What makes *Flaw such a great place is the people. I believe that everything starts off with the those who run the show such as the staff members and leaders. If we had crappy staff, *Flaw would be a crappy community. We set our standards high. We may not be all peaches and cream, nor are we perfect, but we do what we can to keep things going.
